A BRIEF HISTORY OF ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH

1929-2020 (Current)

The history of St. Patrick's Catholic Church begins in 1929 when it was erected by Father John O'Conner. St. Patrick's Church was built on land  donated by James and Hannah Daughton valued in the sum of $500 on June 14th, 1929. The altar of the new church was donated by the late Samuel and Brigget Wallace from Creston, Iowa.

The Parish Hall was constructed by the congregation and dedicated on November 11, 1979 by Bishop Maurice Dingman.

Throughout the years there have been various organizations and events in the parish. The ladies of the church have participated in making blankets and donating them to the homeless shelter as well as conducting prayer groups. A study club was organized in 1948-1958 and then met again in 1976-1977. Religious education takes place at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Children are an important asset to St. Patrick's Parish.

St. Patrick's parish family consists of approximately 37 families. Several additional families from Sun Valley Lake join in attending mass in the summertime. St. Patrick's Catholic Church has been served by more than 21 priests with Father Chris Reising being the current pastor.
